Signal Engineering Trainer/ Assessors

An Engineering Trainer / Assessor is required to work for a fast growing and progressive technical rail training company on mainly UK based contracts. 

We hold several preferred supplier contracts with major UK signalling companies and infrastructure owners and are experiencing a period of exciting rapid growth.  As a well known and recognised S&T provider in the industry, we are now looking for someone with the right attributes to join our company.

We are looking for someone already delivering signal engineering training or is employed as a signal engineer, electronics engineer/technician or telecoms engineer and is keen to assist in the training and development of new and experienced engineers in digital rail technology.

Our preference is for employed staff but we will consider associate staff as well.

You should have a keen interest and ideally experience in newer signalling technology/electronics or telecoms and/or have experience in design, testing or maintenance. We will provide additional training and support to enable you to gain trainer/assessor qualifications and to become approved by NSAR.

Experience / Qualifications essential:

  • Signal engineering, electronics, computing or telecoms experience
  • Confident with computer and electronic equipment
  • Good IT skills
  • Able to work as part of a team and on own
  • Flexible approach to work location and prepared to travel/lodge

Experience / Qualifications desirable:

  • ONC / HNC level education - an experienced rail candidate with a City & Guilds would also be acceptable
  • D32, A1 or equivalent
  • Training qualification (PTLLS or equivalent)

·        Hours: Full-time or part-time hours will be considered, Permanent Contract

·        Salary: 25k – 30k, Negotiable, dependent on experience and agreed working hours

·        Working location: Based at Sutton Benger, Chippenham, with on-site working required in line with business needs

Role Overview

The Administration Assistant will provide reliable and accurate administrative support to the Business Support Manager and wider team within Setec’s specialist training environment. The role is focused on supporting the smooth preparation, production, recording and reconciliation of training course materials, alongside general administration and data entry duties.

The successful candidate will be organised, detail-focused and comfortable working to deadlines in a busy office environment. They will help ensure that course packs and supporting documentation are prepared accurately, checked thoroughly and ready for Director approval where required.

Reporting Line

The Administration Assistant will report to the Business Support Manager and will work closely with colleagues involved in training delivery, course administration and operational support.

Key Responsibilities

·        Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Business Support Manager

·        Print, collate and produce course materials and course packs in preparation for scheduled training courses

·        Ensure course packs are complete, accurate, well presented and ready within agreed timescales

·        Reconcile completed course packs and supporting documentation prior to Director review and approval

·        Carry out accurate data entry using internal systems, spreadsheets and databases

·        Maintain electronic and paper-based records in an organised and accessible manner

·        Support the tracking of course documentation, approvals and related administration

·        Assist with general office administration, including filing, scanning, photocopying and document management

·        Respond to internal queries professionally and escalate issues where appropriate

·        Maintain confidentiality when handling company, client, learner or staff information

·        Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure training administration processes run efficiently

·        Carry out other reasonable administrative duties as required by the Business Support Manager

Required Skills and Attributes

·        Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

·        Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise routine tasks

·        Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook

·        Good written and verbal communication skills

·        Ability to follow established processes and work to agreed deadlines

·        Reliable, professional and able to maintain confidentiality

·        Positive attitude with a willingness to support colleagues and learn new systems

·        Ability to work independently on routine tasks while asking for guidance when needed

Experience and Qualifications

·        Previous experience in an administration, office support or business support role is essential

·        Experience of data entry, document production or maintaining records would be advantageous

·        Experience within a training, education, compliance or operations environment would be beneficial but is not      essential

·        GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths are desirable

Working Style

This role would suit someone who enjoys structured administration work, takes pride in producing accurate documents and is comfortable supporting a busy team. The postholder should be dependable, methodical and able to manage repetitive tasks with consistency and care.

·        Clean current Driving Licence with access to transportation

·        Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality and timely completion of administration tasks

·        Willingness to support changing business priorities and wider office requirements
